Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between PDF to Text and OCR PDF?
PDF to Text extracts the existing text layer from a digital PDF. OCR PDF uses optical character recognition to read text from scanned or image-based PDFs where no text layer exists.
Will the text order be correct?
Yes. We use pdftotext with layout preservation to maintain the reading order of the original document.
What if my PDF has no extractable text?
If your PDF is a scanned document, use our OCR PDF tool instead — it uses Tesseract OCR to extract text from images.
Is my file safe?
Yes. Files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after download.
